Everton 1-1 Crystal Palace: Ayew Earns Palace a Point
Crystal Palace held Everton to a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, with Jordan Ayew scoring a late equalizer for the visitors.
The Toffees had taken the lead through Anthony Gordon in the first half, but Ayew's goal 10 minutes from time salvaged a point for Palace.
The result leaves Everton in 12th place in the Premier League table, while Palace are now 13th.
Everton made a bright start to the game and took the lead after just seven minutes. Demarai Gray played a through ball to Gordon, who fired low past Vicente Guaita into the bottom corner.
Palace responded well to going behind and had a number of chances to equalize before halftime. Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise, and Eberechi Eze all went close, but Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was in inspired form.
The second half continued in much the same vein, with both teams creating chances but failing to find a goal. Ayew finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, when he headed home a cross from Zaha.
Everton pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Palace held on to secure a valuable point.
