Christianity in Rwanda

The Largest Religion in the Country

According to the most recent national census from 2012, Christianity is the largest religion in Rwanda, with over 90% of the population identifying as Christian. The dominant religious group is the Catholics, who represent 44% of the resident population of the country. Protestants make up the second largest Christian group, with over 39% of the population, while other Christian denominations account for the remaining 7%.

Demographic Features of the Rwandan Population

Rwanda's population is characterized by a high population density and a diverse ethnic composition. The country's education system has made significant progress in recent years, with over 90% of the population being literate. However, there are still disparities in education levels between different regions of the country.

The most recent statistics on religion in Rwanda were published by the US Government in 2013. These statistics indicate that the percentage of the population that identifies as Christian has remained relatively stable in recent years. However, there has been a slight increase in the number of people who identify as Protestant, while the number of Catholics has declined slightly.
