The Romantic Novelists Association (RNA) is delighted to announce that author Katy Turner has won the annual Romantic Novelists Association (RNA) Joan Hessayon Award 2023.

This prestigious award is given to an unpublished writer who has completed the RNA’s New Writers’ Scheme and has demonstrated exceptional promise as a romantic novelist.

Katy’s winning entry, “The Lost Letter,” is a heartwarming and emotional story about a woman who uncovers a long-lost love letter that leads her on a journey of self-discovery and unexpected romance.

The judges were impressed by Katy’s strong storytelling skills and her ability to create believable and relatable characters. They also praised her attention to detail and her evocative descriptions of the English countryside.

As the winner of the RNA Joan Hessayon Award 2023, Katy will receive a cash prize of £2,000, a mentoring session with an experienced romantic novelist, and the opportunity to have her manuscript critiqued by a top literary agent.

The RNA Joan Hessayon Award was established in 2002 in memory of the late Joan Hessayon, a prolific and much-loved romantic novelist.

The RNA New Writers’ Scheme is a year-long program that provides aspiring romantic novelists with support, guidance, and access to industry professionals.

Katy Turner is a stay-at-home mom and a keen cook, baker, and gardener. She lives in Northumberland with her husband and three children.
