11 TEX Leads 1-0 Over Diamondbacks Heading into Saturday's Game 2

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers grabbed an early lead in their Wild Card Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night, winning 6-5. The Rangers now hold a 1-0 advantage heading into Game 2 on Saturday.

Corey Seager led the way for the Rangers, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Adolis Garcia and Nathaniel Lowe also homered for Texas. Daulton Varsho hit a solo home run for the Diamondbacks, while Ketel Marte and Josh Rojas each had two hits.

The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Seager's home run. The Diamondbacks tied the game in the second inning on Varsho's homer, but the Rangers regained the lead in the third inning on Garcia's solo shot.

The Diamondbacks tied the game again in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Marte, but the Rangers took the lead for good in the fifth inning on Lowe's two-run homer. The Diamondbacks had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning, but Rojas struck out with the bases loaded to end the game.

Martin Perez started for the Rangers and allowed five runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Kolby Allard started for the Diamondbacks and allowed four runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Game 2 of the Wild Card Series is scheduled for Saturday at 2:07 p.m. CT at Globe Life Field. Jon Gray will start for the Rangers, while Merrill Kelly will start for the Diamondbacks.
